The Firebird as a mythological "phoenix from the ashes" not only pervades Thea Musgrave's popular orchestral piece, but also inspired Jeffrey Ching as a Chinese lucky man to create his new composition, which was commissioned by the IMPULS festival. One may be particularly curious, because only last season Ching thrilled the Magdeburg audience with his chamber opera "The true story of King Kong", a multimedia fusion of chamber opera, puppet theater and video art.
With Armando Merino and Wilson Ng there are two promising young talents at the conductor's podium, who will certainly give new impulses with their fresh handwriting.
