Impromptu
(1967) for flute and oboe
Duration: 4 minutes

World Premiere: 16 April 1967, Wigmore Hall, London
Douglas Whittaker and Janet Craxton

Publisher:  Chester Music Ltd

Composer Note:

Impromptu for flute and oboe was written in 1967. As the title implies it is a short light-hearted work.

It is based on a short distinctive phrase heard at the outset. This returns many times at different pitches and always with a different continuation.
